Hotel California

I have been in Pasadena, CA for almost two weeks now. It has been great, but very busy! We have training sessions in TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) every morning from 9am-noon. After the lunch break we have sessions in culture and language. We also have practicum every night at 7. It has been challenging, but also encouraging to practice teaching with real students.

I am so thankful to be a part of an organization that is so filled with the Spirit. It is a blessing to be able to worship and grow with other believers. I am making great friends with all of the people who are going to the former Soviet Union. It is also so, encouraging that my teaching partner and roommate, Carolina, and I are bonding. It is a scary thing to move to a new country and live with a stranger, but I think we will do well together.

I have a little over two weeks left in training, and then I will leave for Russia.

Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support!

Leaving for California

Today is my last day at home in Georgia. I leave for California first thing in the morning. I am really excited, and I am nervous at the same time! I am excited to begin teaching, and I can't wait to get back to Russia. It is a place that I love dearly.

As often as I can, I will send updates from training in California. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. I still need about half of my funds. If you would like to donate on my behalf please make checks out to ESI and mail them to Educational Services International at 444 E. Huntington Drive Suite 200 Arcadia, California 91006. Please do not write my name in the memo line, buy write account number 208097. You can also use paypal or a major credit card to make donations online at www.teachoverseas.org/contribute.php.

Thanks again for your continued prayer and financial support!

Until next time

Russia in a Week

Hi everyone!

This is my first blog for my trip to Russia. I think this will be the easiest way to keep everyone up to date on everything that is going on in this new adventure. Well I leave in just about a week to go to California for training. I am very excited, but I am very nervous as well! I will be in Cali for about a month, and then I will head to Vologda, Russia. I will be East of Moscow and St. Petersburg (about a 7 hr. train ride from each city).

There have been some major blessings already as I have prepared for my trip. My church has graciously agreed to give me about half of the funding I need. This is such a blessing, since that means I have less money to raise. I have been short in finances for everything that needs to get done before I leave, but two Sunday's ago I had a miracle. The youth pastor at my church just gave me $100 that I desperately needed. He had no idea that I needed the money, he just felt impressed to give it to me! Praise God for little miracles.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support as I go on this incredible journey!

Until next time.
